Long Point Region Conservation Authority

Blue Rhino Design was commissioned in 2023 to redesign the 3,200 sq ft Backus Education Centre, a key public education space operated by the Long Point Region Conservation Authority. The gallery—dedicated to the region’s unique wetlands, forests, and wildlife—was due for a complete refresh.

Working closely with LPRCA, we led a complete transformation of the space, including content development, exhibit and graphic design, and fabrication oversight. The goal was to bring the gallery up to contemporary museum standards—improving accessibility, storytelling, and visitor engagement across all ages.

The refreshed gallery now offers a welcoming, informative, and hands-on experience that highlights the ecological significance of the Long Point region. Interactive elements, clear narratives, and thoughtfully designed visuals help visitors explore topics such as biodiversity, watershed health, conservation, and human impact on the environment.

The new Backus Education Centre officially reopened to the public in June 2025.
