Children’s Play Space

Wellington County Museum and Archives

Blue Rhino Design partnered with the Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) and Martin Simmons Sweers Architects to design a vibrant 550-square-foot Children’s Play Space that sparks curiosity, creativity, and hands-on discovery.

Drawing inspiration from the region’s rich history and natural landscapes, the space features custom interactives, tactile elements, and themed zones that support open-ended play for children of all ages. Camping-inspired activity stations, sensory-rich areas, and cozy seating create a welcoming environment for families to learn, explore, and connect.

Blending art, science, and storytelling, the space also includes colourful murals, a stage for imaginative performances, a climbable treehouse, and a variety of discovery-based installations designed to engage young minds.

Built with adaptability in mind, the space is designed to grow with future programming needs and seasonal experiences, reinforcing WCMA’s commitment to meaningful engagement with its youngest visitors and their caregivers.

The Children’s Play Space opened in January 2026.
