Collingwood Museum

The Town of Collingwood

In late 2017, Blue Rhino Design began work on a three-year re-design and build of Collingwood Museum’s exhibition gallery. The goal of the gallery was to present the stories of Collingwood’s unique history in a fresh and engaging manner while better representing the Museum’s core collections and themes: The Huron Institute, First Nations Peoples, Railway, Wooden Boatbuilding, and Shipbuilding.

The Blue Rhino Design team collaborated with museum staff to reimagine Collingwood’s gallery as a modern, flexible space that engages visitors through the creative use of images, text, and artifacts. Among other deliverables, Blue Rhino Design provided a visitor flow study; gallery and exhibit-specific designs; production, fabrication, and installation services; gallery lighting; multimedia; and systems and cases for hanging art, displaying artifacts, and supporting heavy objects.
