Long Point Region Conservation Authority, Port Rowan

Opened in June 2026, the Davidson Decoy Gallery showcases one of Canada’s most significant collections of antique waterfowl decoys. Located within the Backus Conservation Education Centre, this 960 square-foot gallery was developed by Blue Rhino Design in collaboration with Long Point Region Conservation Authority staff and collector Tom Davidson. Working within a former classroom space, Blue Rhino Design created the exhibition concept, interpretive approach and visitor experience, transforming the area into a modern gallery dedicated to Ontario’s decoy carving heritage.

The exhibition brings together more than 80 decoys and related artifacts, supported by interpretive panels, object labels, historical photographs, audiovisual media and custom exhibit elements. Blue Rhino Design developed all exhibition content and graphics, and designed the gallery layout and exhibit components. We worked closely with project partners to create distinctive features including a carver’s workshop installation with a life-sized video greeter. The result is a welcoming and engaging experience that highlights the artistry, history and cultural significance of these remarkable objects.
