Kípaitapiiyssinnooni
The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland
Blue Rhino Design collaborated with The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland in Calgary to develop Kípaitapiiyssinnooni (“Our Way of Life”), a 3,300-square-foot permanent exhibition rooted in Blackfoot ways of knowing, being, and belonging. Curated by Niitsitapi artist Star Crop Eared Wolf of the Kainai Nation, the exhibition invites visitors into a space inspired by a traditional Blackfoot lodge—an environment of sound, story, and living culture.
Developed through close collaboration with Blackfoot Elders, artists, and knowledge keepers, the exhibition centres Indigenous perspectives while reflecting a deep commitment to cultural sovereignty. All objects and media were created by Blackfoot contributors and commissioned specifically for the exhibit.
The gallery opened on May 17, 2025.
