Asian Cultural Exhibition Series

Association of Children’s Museums (ACM)

Blue Rhino Design was hired in December 2019 by the Association of Children’s Museums in Washington, DC, to coordinate and lead a large multi-functional international team through the complex design-build process for five traveling modular exhibits.

The ACM represents more than 460 children’s museums in 19 countries and the US. The Freeman Foundation promotes understanding between the US and the nations of East Asia. In 2019, the foundation funded its third Freeman Foundation Asian Cultural Exhibition Series (FFACES 3.0) — a series of East Asian-themed traveling exhibitions for children’s museums.

The five hands-on exhibitions will depict five East Asian themes for children—food, home life, celebration, music, and games. Each of these will be composed of modules or pods which can be reconfigured to fit different exhibit spaces. As well, the modules can be distributed separately to other venues for special events or short-term shows.

This project is on track for its scheduled launch in 2023.
